is a person who has worn many hats in the last three decades - EMT, attorney, food truck entrepreneur, roleplay streamer, community manager, and now Big Damn Game Developer. Colin was born, raised, and now (after a long absence) resides in Upstate New York’s Adirondack region. Colin must always be able to see mountains on the horizon to feel safe. It’s a whole thing.
Colin’s first endeavor into tabletop roleplaying games came at 14, when a high school friend introduced him to AD&D 2E. An immediate obsession was born, and soon Colin was taking the helm as Dungeon Master and guiding his friends through the terrible dungeons he dreamt up in his bedroom, hand drawn in pencil on graph paper. The Game Master seat will always be where Colin feels the most at home, and he loves finding new ways to facilitate telling beautiful stories with his friends.
Colin has appeared on many TTRPG Actual-Play streams since 2020, both as a player and as a GM. His Twitch credits include Encounter Roleplay/Weave the Tale, Kobold Press, Valdrianth, LaughLoveLindy, and his own Twitch channel, Colinomicon. He has also regularly appeared on the Master the Game channel on YouTube. When Colin is neither playing games nor writing them, he’s usually reading comics, fantasy novels, or a good history book, and drinking an irresponsible amount of Harney & Sons Hot Cinnamon tea. His other hobbies include hiking, binging AP and history podcasts, and playing one of his too-many guitars. He has a cat named Auri who is beautiful and perfect in every way, and is his best friend (Anna is a close second).
is a writer, editor, and geek of all trades. In addition to 6 String Games, they have worked with Zweihander RPG, Mage Hand Press, and DOTS RPG making games and game-related content of all sorts. Prior to that, Anna worked as a bookseller, research fellow in Early American Literature, and actor in Gainesville, Florida. She now resides in the Pacific Northwest, in a bog witch’s dwelling she shares with her husband and their two dogs.
Anna designed her first ever board game as a young kid, when she and her siblings took an old Monopoly Junior set and remade the components into a game of diplomacy, backstabbing, and world history. She began playing TTRPGS in college and still treasures her first ever character sheet for her elf wizard, Nymeria. Horror and gothic elements creep into Anna’s games, no matter what kind of story she’s telling. She also loves science fiction and fantasy because the genres are good to think with and fun to play with.
When they’re not playing or making games, Anna is an avid cosplayer, tea drinker, and bibliophile. They are the cofounder of the Disability Readathon, a semi-annual event dedicated to celebrating books and media created by disabled authors. They also do disability advocacy and consulting for games, cosplay events, and other geeky endeavors, promoting inclusivity and access for all.
RPG Snacks are our short form tabletop RPG’s, published once every month (or so). These are zany, experimental games best enjoyed with a group of friends who enjoy burrowing down Wikipedia rabbit holes and asking questions like, “But what would happen if cats could change color around radiation?”
Our supporters on Patreon get a first look at each new RPG Snack, and issues are available for general purchase on our website as well. All our RPG Snacks are available in digital and plaintext format, as well as in printed zine format. Patreon supporters who subscribe at the physical rewards tier get an exclusive, numbered limited edition stamped with our foil 6 String Games seal of approval.
Big Damn Heroes
Big Damn Heroes is the game that started it all here at 6 String Games. What began as a shitpost conversation between Colin and Anna has evolved into an original game system for role-playing your favorite over-the-top fantasy tropes in a world where heroism, hubris, and heart save the day.
Inspired by cinematic storytelling techniques, tales of heroic sacrifice and redemption, and schemes so crazy they just might work, Big Damn Heroes is currently in development and will release as an ashcan edition with a full version to follow.
